「Recima's Baking Bkog Chapter 4: Orange Cream Cheese Swirl Brownies」

Baked Dish.jpg
Welcome everybody, to chapter 4 of the only blog in brainworm.rodeo that has pictures that can be used as 4k wallpapers!
Today we're making Orange Cream Cheese Swirl Brownies! Cream Cheese Swirl Brownies are a category of brownies that I'd argue are terribly underappreciated, and these ones here have some added orange flavoring to get you into the Halloween spirit! Don't ask me why this should be considered a Halloween dish when there is no orange coloring, the orange flavoring is all you need! Don't quote me on this. Let's begin!

Servings: 9-12
Prep time: 30 minutes
Cooking time: 35 minutes
Cooling time: 5 minutes

Ingredients:
<Brownie Mix
>1 Cup of Sugar
>1/2 Cup of Flour
>1/2 Cup of Cocoa Powder
>1/2 Teaspoon of Salt
>1/4 Teaspoon of Baking Powder
>2 Eggs
>1/3 Cup of Vegetable Oil
>1 Teaspoon of Vanilla Extract

<Cream Cheese Mixture
>8 Ounces of Cream Cheese at Room Temperature
>1/4 Cup of Sugar
>1 Egg
>1/2 Teaspoon of Vanilla Extract
>Orange Zest (From around 2 large oranges or 3 small ones)
>Orange Food Coloring (Optional, I only recommend it if you really care about this being a Halloween recipe)

Baking Tools Needed:
>Oven
>Glass Baking Dish (Ideally around 8x8 inches)
>Rubber Spatula
>2 Medium Bowls
>Electric Mixer
>Small Mixing Bowl
>Parchment Paper/Foil or Nonstick Spray
>Measuring Cups
>Fork
>Knife
>Oven Mitt
>Small Bowl for cracking egg (Not required but recommended)

Directions:

>Preheat Oven to 350 degrees Farhenheit
>Line Baking Dish with Parchment/Foil or spray with Nonstick Spray
>In Medium Bowl, mix all dry ingredients under "Brownie Mix"
>In Small Mixing Bowl, whisk all wet ingredients under "Brownie Mix" with a fork
>Add Wet Ingredients to Dry Ingredients and Mix well with the Rubber Spatula
>In another Medium Bowl, use an Electric Mixer to combine all ingredients under "Cream Cheese Mixture" (Make sure Cream Cheese is at room temperature first!)
>Pour the Brownie Mix into the baking dish and spread evenly, making sure to save around 1/4 cup
>Pour Cream Cheese Mixture into dish, letting it spread evenly
>Dollop the remaining Brownie Mix onto the dish, see attached image
>Drag a knife through the mixtures, to give them a marbled swirl appearance, see attached image
>Put dish into oven and let bake for 35 minutes (once this is over, you can check to see if its done by sliding a knife or toothpick into the dish; if it comes out wet its not done, but if it comes out dry it is)
>Let cool for 5 minutes
>Enjoy!

Storage:
The recipe should last for at least 4 days if you refrigerate it afterwards.

As some of you may know, this chapter of the baking blog was a bit different because it was posted semi-live on /ib/ (memegrips), with semi-frequent updates of the baking process. Although this was definitely a lot of fun, it was a bit stressful keeping everything going at once and I probably won't be doing any blogs live again for some time. That means that I'll go back to just having these spontaneously appear out of thin air for every time one of these is due. You may have also noticed that I'm now using a tripcode, and in all future posts and comments by me I'll be using this tripcode. Thank you everyone for reading my blog, and feel free to share what you've baked recently in the comments!

See you later!

I regularly bake banana bread but I never take any photos. I'll be sure to document it next time ^_^

Sounds good! Next chapter should probably be in 2 weeks, but if the sites visitor concentration remains high I might start a "cooking compendium" or something to help act as a more regular "baking general"

I have something planned for the 31st (a more thematic halloween themed desert) but not for the upcoming week. The blog was supposed to be done biweekly so that I wouldn't run out of recipes but I think that I'll have to start posting weekly to keep up with the new visitors (who I'm hoping will stay)

sounds good. Are you generally interested in cooking or mainly baking?

I have some recipes (cooked) that I'd absolutely love to share, but because I've branded this as a "Baking Blog" I feel kind of stuck with only doing baked goods. I plan to do some non-desserts though (like making bread).

The ideal solution would be for someone else to start a cooking compendium (or other nicely titled thread) that would post on alternative weeks from me
